Good Morning

I love the weekends because I can wait till the sun comes up to go feed the crew. This morning was especially beautiful, a crisp blue sky, bright sun, warm fuzzies and wollies too.

It was about 4*F, anything above zero is good for this time of year. The sun was low on the horizon casting long shadows across the yard. And with the exception of the dogs running and playing in the pasture all was quiet and peaceful.

About those dogs, they love the cold. This is just about the perfect temperature for them to run and play as much as they want without overheating. They were racing around like greyhounds, zipping all around the barn until it was time to greet me at the gate.

I love how these two pretend to act all grown up one minute, and then revert to their puppy selves just a minute later.

The battle lasts just seconds and then it’s back to work, as if nothing happened.

I quickly prepare Mia’s breakfast and then move on to feeding the sheep. The girls went into breeding season with a little extra weight on board so for now they get just hay for breakfast. In the evenings we feed a little barley with extra vitamin additives plus another round of hay.

Next month we will change to alfalfa in preparation for lambing.

I love that Matilda has perpetual “bedhead”. She is such a  fuzzball

In spite of the temperature, it’s wonderful to just stay out and enjoy the peace and quiet of a happy farmyard.

I'm in no hurry to go in, the view is picture perfect from the barn.

Another perfectly beautiful day. I am so lucky to get to live in such a wonderful place.
